Though guys and boxe
In the South of Italy there are many stories of young guys at risk that chasing the myth of a gangster life come to a crossroads: either death or jail. There are some realities, however, that in these “border posts” they can be a lifeline for these young people who know how to hit hard thanks to the life they do.
One of these places is Giugliano’s boxing gym by Maestro Salvatore Pizzo. Here in Giugliano, a province north of Naples, a town governed by the malfeasance of the Camorra, many youngsters find space in their lives with boxing, a poor sport that imposes sacrifice, dedication and suffering. A sport that can only find champions in street kids, who are not afraid to face each other and fight, who are not afraid of pain. Giugliano’s gym gives a chance to many young people in the area who decide to make sense of their lives. Some of them managed to get away from criminal lives and even came to win national titles.
Many of these kids have nothing in life, do not go to school, do not work and boxing takes up all their time and symbolizes their hope, their future.
